GWBL - 2025 - WEEK 3
WEEK 3 – 2025 SEASON – GWBL
Welcome back for another installment of GWBL Weekly Entertainment. This just in: the Patriots have fumbled the ball again.
What an unbelievably frustrating game. The Patriots were in control throughout and yet, they managed to literally fumble the game away. FOUR FUMBLES. Three different players, two of whom are supposed to be leaders on this team. Rhamondre’s career is legitimately at risk due to these ball security issues and he still refuses to take care of the football. Meanwhile Drake is supposed to be the savior of the franchise and the only thing he’s saving is our collective money on Patriots tickets. Why would we spend time and money to go see this team live when this is the type of shit we’ve been fed the past 5-6 years? A team that finds new and inventive ways to lose each week. To frustrate the fan base and be the “get right” game for every other team (except the Dolphins). Don’t even get me started on Demario Douglas’ 4th down attempt that iced the game. 4th and 2 and he runs a route for 1.75 yards. Good job dude. Another problem the post TB12 Patriots have – the uncanny ability to come up justttt short of the required distance for a first down. 3rd and 8 – they’ll get 7.8 yards. 2nd and 13 – they’ll get 12.5 yards. 4th and 2 – you get the idea. This team makes me feel positively forlorn at times, even when they’re in competitive games. We’re really paying for all that dynasty success now I guess.
Anyways….
The Patriots suck but it feels good to be back into a groove with these writeups. We’re 3 for 3 with getting something out and I hope you’re enjoying these as much as I’ve enjoyed writing them. This week we’ll keep it simple and look at one “good” thing for each team and one “bad” thing. Good vs Bad, Light vs Dark, Pros vs Cons, whatever you want to call it. Some will be about the recent matchup, some will be more high level thoughts. Here we go:
Deebo Baggins (Frader): 2-1
Good: I’m gonna skip right to Cam Skattebo here…. what a ballsy start by Frader. I know Tyrone Tracy had been dog-housed in Week 2, but to start Skattebo against a stingy Chiefs defense was a bold move. And it paid off big time. Skattebo went for 26 points this week on 120 total yards and a TD. He looked awesome and is their clear cut starter for the foreseeable future. Tone must be crestfallen that he dropped him right after Week 1.
Bad: Tight end whackamole is one of the most frustrating parts of fantasy football and Frader is whackin it hard right now. Last week he started Mark Andrews (1.6 points) and had Kyle Pitts (7.7 points) on his bench. This week he started Kyle Pitts (7 points), while Mark Andrews blows up for 27 on his bench. Good luck making that decision every week.
I LOVE LAMB (Tieg): 0-3
Good: Caleb Williams may be for real. Tieg’s 13th round pick is QB3 on the year after his 32 point outburst and looks like a #1 overall pick should. Already has 7 passing TDs and a rushing TD compared to the one interception. Close to 100 rushing yards as well which puts him on pace for over 500 yards on the ground. It’s been a rough start for Tieg but Caleb’s been a silver lining.
Bad: Speaking of tough start….. Ceedee Lamb has a high ankle sprain and will be out for a few weeks. TBD if he comes back and who knows how long this will linger. This type of injury can often derail a season. Doesn’t help he gave Tieg a goose egg in this last game either. Hard to overcome an injury to your #1 pick, but we’ll see.
Two Joe’s One Kupp (Tone): 2-1
Good: The Lions backfield is just unfair. As good as Gibbs is, David Montgomery may be more impressive. He’s a beast and so hard to bring down. Even in the passing game, which is an underrated part of his skill set. There was one play in particular from MNF that stuck out to me and showed how good he is. He caught a check down pass for about 4 yards and the linebacker was on him immediately. Instead of an easy tackle and a short gain, Montgomery broke the initial contact with some handfighting/stiff arm type move (it happened quick), exploded to the outside and turned it into an 11 yard play. That’s a play I’d expect Gibbs to make, not a guy who’s pushing 230 pounds. Ridiculous play on his way to a 32 point game.
Bad: As good as Zay Flowers was in Weeks 1-2, this was the week where you remember why he’s perennially a mid round pick in fantasy. 2 catches on 3 targets for 13 yards? In an extremely competitive game… how?
GALSFLL LAMAR JACKSON (Lamone): 2-1
Good: Speaking of the Ravens passing game – I will mention Lamar Jackson every week until he shows that he is mortal. This fucking guy. Another 32 fantasy points on 288 passing yards, 35 rushing yards and 3 passing TDs. He got sacked 7 times which cost me a game in my other league (FUCK YOU LAMONE YOU LUCKY CUNT) but all that matters are those fantasy points. Lamar is the #1 QB and the #1 overall player, with no signs of slowing down.
Bad: Drake London, eeek. After being hyped to the moon all summer, London has been one of the bigger busts in fantasy this year. Just 5 catches for 55 yards this week, the third straight week he’s gone under 60 yards. No touchdowns and no explosive plays, he currently ranks as WR44 in our scoring.
She Wants the Young Caff (Dyl): 2-1
Good: Wait, so Jalen Hurts can actually throw the ball? Wow, isn’t that something. If they let this offense off the leash the pass-catchers can actually put up numbers! Music to the ears of the AJ Brown and Devonta Smith owners, hallelujah. I hate the Eagles so much. They only showcase half of their potential in most weeks and it’s so frustrating for fantasy. They’re just content to be a boring ass run first offense half the time. Not this week though, thank you Jalen Hurts. (The tush push should be banned, it’s not a football play and is an eyesore. Oh and they false start every time too.)
Bad: Harold Fannin womp womp. The darling of Week 1 has fallen flat the last two weeks, netting a total of 8 catches and 73 yards over that span. I guess that Browns offense can’t support 4 pass catchers after all. (Can it even support one? Might be time to sit Flacco.)
Oshkosh B’Gosh (Kev): 1-2
Good: JK Dobbins, what a steal. The 108th player selected in our draft is the clear cut RB1 for the Broncos and sits at RB12 in our scoring. I still can’t believe this guy is relevant after all the injuries he sustained, including the Achilles tear. But here he is once again putting up numbers, proving that last year was no fluke. We’ll see if he holds up, but Dobbins owners have to be thrilled so far.
Bad: I’m gonna go with a double burger here – “Chuck, I had a double burgggerrrr” (Goodwill Hunting, such a classic). But let’s go with Malik Nabers and Brock Bowers. I’m less worried about Nabers because he’s so talented. The Giants are moving on from Russ Wilson and hopefully Dart will provide a new element to that offense. Still….3.3 points from Nabers this week is unacceptable. Bowers on the other hand – he might be a problem. He’s clearly not healthy and you wonder if this will plague him all year long. He hasn’t been terrible, but he’s TE8 on the season and his production has gone down each week. Their bye isn’t until Week 8 so we’ll see how they play this.
Brown ^ 2 (Keetz): 1-2
Good: Keetz doubling down on the Lions’ skill players is looking like a winning bet so far. This week Gibbs and Amonra combined for 52 points, after teaming up for 61 the week before. Normally I would think an RB and WR pairing from the same team limits your upside, but there are no limits for these two.
Bad: Baltimore’s defense got Keetz -6 points this week. NEGATIVE 6. In a game he lost by 9 that is a killer. It wasn’t the only reason he lost, but good grief that is a tough pill to swallow.
Chase is On the Case (Ken): 3-0
Good: Trust the process? Ken was loaded with draft picks this year and is off to a hot start. He’s the only undefeated team and a few points off the lead for total points scored (Dylan #1). The crazy thing? His studs haven’t gotten going yet. Jamar Chase (WR11) and Justin Jefferson (WR25) have both been somewhat disappointing – when these guys turn it on we are screwed. With the arrival of Quinshon, Ken is looking like a powerhouse this year. (Who needs offseason/mini camp/preseason anyway?)
Bad: Ashton Jeanty you suck again!!! The Raiders rookie failed to hit double digits for the second week in a row and didn’t even register a single catch. What the hell is the point of drafting a guy this high if you’re not going to utilize his full skill set? Jeanty is RB33 in our scoring and has 5 catches for 3 total yards in three games. Hopefully for all the suckers (like me) who drafted him early, they figure this out soon.
King Henry’s Court (DMO): 0-3
Good: The man who inspired half of the fantasy team names in our league last year is my pick – Jaxon Smith Njigba. I cannot believe I picked Tee Higgins over this guy in the draft – WHAT AN IDIOT. WHAT A LOSERR… GOODDD, MORE FOR ME AND YOU. Anyways Njibga is looking to have a career year in 2025, slotting in as WR5 thus far. He came 4 yards shy of his third straight 100 yard game and notched his first TD of the young season. DMO faded the WR position a bit this year and “JSN” is making that look like a smart decision.
Bad: I can admit it – this win was lucky as hell for my team. DMO needed ~15 points from Derrick Henry on Monday night football and he only got him 12.85. He had a late fumble and was essentially shut out in the 2nd half of the game. The worst part is that he had a 30 yard TD run in the first quarter and it looked like he was on his way to a monster game. Somehow he’d only score about 4 more points the rest of the way. As DMO used to say – BAD BEAT.
Tom’s Retirement Tour (Commish): 2-1
Good: Jonathan Taylor come on down. My 1st pick in the draft had arguably the best RB performance of the young season with 100 yards and 3 TDs against the Titans. He had a 46 yard TD run in there where he broke 4 tackles, it was Marshawn Lynch-esque. The Colts are one of the bigger surprises of the young season and Taylor’s been a big part of it.
Bad: I could go with Tee Higgins, but we all know the story there. Instead I’ll ask – what the hell is going on with Ladd McConkey? He’s ranked third on his own team in targets and yards. Keenan Allen and Quentin Johnston have 3 TDs apiece, while Ladd has zero. He’s WR41 in our league, right in there with Drake London as one of the bigger busts at the position. He’s too good to be this bad for fantasy, right? RIGHT?
